Anyone for Croquet?

sharon_bill_croquet
As part of the WI Centenary celebrations I went to Bishop's Court for the morning. It was lovely to meet ladies from all over the Cheshire Federation. Of course the tea and cake was delicious but the best bit (for me) was playing Croquet on the lawn.

I've always wanted to have a go but our lawn is far too lumpy. It's not as easy as you'd think - six 'wickets' took quite some time to achieve, and the tendency to misuse the mallet is almost overwhelming! Apparently Agatha Christie was an ardent Croquet player and there is still a set by the front door of her home,"Greenwa,y" as she left them. It's now owned by the National Trust and is also a Hotel - I'd love to stay there!
